Rover Amiibo

Rover is the blue cat who appears at the start of every modern Animal Crossing game (City Folk, New Leaf, New Horizons, plus the original 2001 game) to ask the player a series of train-conversation questions that determine the player's name, gender, and starting town configuration.

The Rover opening conversation has been the franchise's most consistent opening-NPC scene since 2001. He's the single most-encountered NPC for most Animal Crossing players because every player meets him in the first thirty seconds of a new save. He's also the franchise's quietest character: he disappears after the train scene and rarely re-appears in main-game content.

He pairs with Tom Nook, Isabelle, K.K., Mabel, Blathers, and the broader Animal Crossing NPC cluster.
