About Mega Man amiibo
Mega Man (Rockman in Japan) was created in 1987 by Capcom for the original Mega Man (NES); the franchise's central gameplay-design choice was that the protagonist could absorb defeated boss-character abilities and use them in subsequent levels, which became the franchise's structural identity for over thirty years across multiple sub-franchises (classic Mega Man, Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero, Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man Legends). The amiibo released September 11, 2015 alongside the Smash Ultimate roster-promo wave.
In Smash Ultimate his FP trains as a Mega Man specialist with his weapon-based moveset: Mega Buster, Metal Blade, Crash Bomber, Hard Knuckle, Leaf Shield, Top Spin. Every special move references a different boss-character weapon from the original Mega Man games.
He pairs with Mega Man Gold Edition (the retailer-exclusive variant), or you are team blue, the Shovel Knight Amiibo. The Wily Stage 1 song probably starts playing in your head when you look at him.
