Shovel Knight (2014 Wii U / 3DS / Steam) was Yacht Club Games's commitment to making a Mega-Man-Castlevania-and-DuckTales-influenced 8-bit-style indie platformer, and the game shipped to broad critical acclaim that positioned Shovel Knight as the de-facto mascot of the indie-platformer revival. The amiibo released January 8, 2016, the figure-line's first non-Nintendo-first-party non-Smash-fighter indie character.
