About Pearl amiibo
Pearl is the smaller-bodied, more-aggressive, rap-coded half of Off the Hook, the in-game pop-idol duo who replaced the Squid Sisters as Inkopolis News hosts in Splatoon 2 (2017 Switch). Her character beat is being the brash, short-fused, aggressive-rap-style half (Marina is the calmer DJ-coded half). The Off the Hook duo was Splatoon 2's commitment to retiring the Squid Sisters as Inkopolis News hosts, and the franchise's choice to make Pearl an aggressive-rap-coded half was a noticeable tonal shift. The amiibo released July 13, 2018 alongside Marina as the Off the Hook two-figure wave.
Tap her on Splatoon games to unlock Off the Hook-themed gear, replay Off the Hook concert content, and trigger Pearl-specific dialogue in Splatoon 2 and 3.
She pairs with Marina (the Off the Hook duo), Callie + Marie (the Squid Sisters), and the broader Splatoon idol-cluster. Pearl yells at the player constantly. She has feelings about everything. (The figure does not yell. The figure-form representation is small and quiet on a shelf, which is on-brand because the only thing about Pearl that's quiet is her physical figure-size.)
