E.M.M.I. Amiibo

E.M.M.I. (Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifier) units are the autonomous research robots that have been corrupted by the X parasite by the time Metroid Dread starts. They patrol specific zones of the planet and chase Samus through the Dread map with terrifying efficiency. The E.M.M.I. encounters in Dread are the franchise's most stress-inducing gameplay sequences: the robots one-shot Samus on contact with their melee strike, and the player has only the brief Counter window or escape-to-zone-exit option to survive. The amiibo released October 8, 2021 alongside Dread.

It pairs with Samus Dread, Samus Aran, the Metroid creature, and the broader Metroid cluster. Most Dread players have a personal E.M.M.I.-trauma anecdote. The figure carries the source of that trauma in plastic. (The figure of the thing that killed you specifically.
