Samus Aran Amiibo

Samus Aran was created in 1986 by Yoshio Sakamoto for the original Metroid (NES). The franchise gave her a power suit, the bounty-hunter backstory, and the now-iconic 'reveal she's a woman' end-game twist. The Metroid Series amiibo released September 15, 2017 alongside Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS), depicting her in 2017-era Power Suit configuration.

Tap her on Samus Returns to unlock the Reserve Tank energy boost (a small mid-mission HP refill mechanic) plus Power Suit upgrades. The Metroid franchise is one of Nintendo's most difficulty-loaded properties, and the amiibo function is essentially a mid-mission band-aid for players who hit a difficulty wall.

She pairs with Smash Samus, Smash Zero Suit Samus, Dark Samus, the Metroid creature, and the broader Metroid cluster.
