About Villager amiibo
Villager is the player-character avatar from the Animal Crossing series (2001 GameCube onward), the small townsfolk-character whose entire role is wholesome village-life: planting flowers, talking to neighbors, paying off Tom Nook's mortgage. The Smash 4 inclusion (2014) had no obvious fighting-game translation, so Sakurai's solution was to make Villager fight using Animal Crossing tools: Pocket forward-special (catch and throw any opponent's projectile), Lloid Rocket side-special, Slingshot neutral-special, Tree Chop down-special.
The Tree Chop animation is the franchise's most honest commitment to making Animal Crossing's gardening tools into combat weapons. Villager chops down the entire on-screen tree mid-fight, then drops it on opponents. The amiibo released November 21, 2014.
In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the Animal-Crossing-tool moveset plus the Pocket mechanic that lets him catch and throw any opponent's projectile. He's the franchise's most projectile-stealing AI fighter.
He pairs with Isabelle Smash, Wii Fit Trainer, and the broader Smash Ultimate roster. The figure preserves the wholesome-village-life-meets-fighting-game contradiction in plastic.
