Mario - Silver Edition Amiibo

Mario Silver is the Walmart-exclusive companion to Mario Gold. Best Buy got the gold-painted Mario in 2015; Walmart got the silver-painted version, and the two figures were a competing-retail-exclusive arms race during the worst of the 2014-2015 amiibo shortage. Released June 7, 2015. He's a reskin of the standard Mario Series sculpt, painted entirely in silver from cap to boots, with a silver base.

Functionally identical to standard Mario. Same Mystery Mushroom costume. Same Mario Kart 8 outfit. Same in-game unlocks. The silver paint changes nothing. Walmart's marketing team wanted a flex that wasn't gold. They got silver.

He pairs with Mario Gold Edition and the standard Mario Series Mario as the trio commemorating the 2015 retailer-exclusive era. (The 2014-2015 shortage was so bad that Nintendo released two different metallic-paint variants of the same character at two different retailers, and people fought over which was harder to find.
