Fox Amiibo

Fox McCloud is the protagonist of the Star Fox franchise (1993 SNES onward), an anthropomorphic-fox space-pilot who leads the Star Fox squadron across multiple games. His Smash inclusion has been continuous since the original Smash (1999), but his most significant character beat is that Fox in Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001 GameCube) was the franchise's most tournament-meta-defining character: his combination of fast falling-speed, multi-jump shine-cancel combos, and laser-spam neutral-game made him the dominant character in the Melee competitive scene for over a decade.

The 'Fox only, Final Destination' meme came from this era. Fox in Melee shaped the entire Smash competitive community's understanding of fighting-game tier-list discourse. The amiibo released November 21, 2014.

In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the franchise's most fast-paced moveset: Blaster ranged-spam, Reflector shine-cancel-attack, Fire Fox recovery, Fox Illusion side-special-burst. His high-fall-speed makes him uniquely tactical at edge-guarding.
