Terry Amiibo

Terry Bogard is the protagonist of SNK's Fatal Fury franchise (1991 NeoGeo) and a recurring character across SNK's broader King of Fighters series. The Smash Ultimate inclusion (2019 DLC) gave SNK's fighting-game legacy a Smash representative, with Terry's moveset specifically built to be the most fighting-game-traditional in Smash Ultimate: he has command-input super-moves (quarter-circle-forward inputs that traditional fighting-game players will recognize) and can throw super-attacks in a way that makes him feel less like a Smash fighter and more like a fighting-game character imported into Smash's combat system. The amiibo released March 26, 2021.

Most Smash characters are Smash-ified versions of their source-material movesets. Terry is the rare reverse where his source-material combat system was kept as much as possible inside Smash.

In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the command-input specials: Power Wave, Burning Knuckle, and Power Geyser. The Burning Knuckle is the move SNK players will recognize first; the AI handles the inputs more consistently than I do.

He pairs with the Fighters Pass Vol. 1 subset (Joker, Hero, Banjo-Kazooie, Terry, Byleth) and the third-party-fighter cluster (Ryu, Ken, Terry, Kazuya).
