Yoshi Amiibo

Yoshi is the green dinosaur from Super Mario World (1990 SNES) who's served as both a Mario-companion character and his own franchise protagonist (Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Crafted World). His Smash inclusion has been continuous since the original Smash (1999), and his character beat is being the franchise's most egg-themed fighter: Egg Lay command-grab, Egg Roll attack, Egg Throw projectile, Yoshi Bomb ground-pound. The amiibo released November 21, 2014 alongside Smash 4's launch wave.

Most Mario-line fighters have one or two character-thematic moves. Yoshi has four. The franchise commits to its bit.

In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the egg-themed moveset plus his distinctive double-jump-armor mechanic (Yoshi's second jump grants temporary super-armor, which is unique to him in the Smash roster). He pairs with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario, and the broader Mario-line Smash cluster. T
