Diddy Kong is DK's small monkey nephew, introduced in Donkey Kong Country (1994 SNES) by Rare. His Smash inclusion has been continuous since Brawl (2008). His character beat in Smash is being the franchise's fast-aerial-combat Donkey-Kong-line counterpart to DK's heavyweight-grappler archetype: Peanut Popgun ranged-projectile, Monkey Flip command-grab, Banana Peel slip-and-fall trip-attack, Rocketbarrel Boost recovery. The amiibo released November 21, 2014.

In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the fast-aerial-combat moveset plus the distinctive Banana-Peel trip-up tactic that's been a competitive-Smash meta-defining tool since Brawl.
