Squirtle Amiibo

Squirtle is the original Pokemon Red/Blue water-type starter (1996), the first-stage of the Squirtle / Wartortle / Blastoise evolution line, and the lightest of the three Pokemon Trainer rotation Pokemon in Smash Ultimate. His character beat is the speed-tier of the Pokemon Trainer trio: fast attacks, low-knockback, low-weight. The amiibo released September 14, 2018 alongside the Pokemon Trainer figure.

In Smash Ultimate his FP trains as a Squirtle-specific within the Pokemon Trainer trio's rotation system. The Squirtle figure unlocks Squirtle-specific stat boosts when paired with the Pokemon Trainer figure.

Most Smash FPs require only one figure; Pokemon Trainer requires four (Trainer + Squirtle + Ivysaur + Charizard) for the full rotation-specific gear-line. That's the figure-line's most multi-figure-coupled training-system commitment.

He pairs with Pokemon Trainer, Ivysaur, Charizard (the four-figure subset), Mewtwo, Pichu, Greninja, Incineroar, and the broader Pokemon-line Smash cluster. Squirtle is the lightest, the fastest, the one you start with. Most Red/Blue players who picked him as their starter have spent thirty years defending the choice.
