About Pichu amiibo
Pichu is the pre-evolution of Pikachu (introduced in Pokemon Gold/Silver 1999 GBC). His Smash Melee inclusion (2001) was the franchise's most deliberate-handicap Pokemon Smash addition because Pichu's electric-attacks specifically hurt himself in addition to opponents. Pichu got cut from Brawl (2008), absent from Smash 4, and re-added in Smash Ultimate (2018) with the 'Everyone is Here' return-wave. The amiibo released April 12, 2019.
In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the Pikachu-derivative moveset plus the self-damage mechanic on most electric attacks. His risk-reward calculation is fundamentally different from any other Smash fighter.
He pairs with the Pokemon-line Smash cluster (Pikachu, Mewtwo, Greninja, Lucario, Incineroar, Pokemon Trainer, Charizard, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Jigglypuff).
