About Marth amiibo
Marth is the protagonist of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (1990 Famicom, the first Fire Emblem game), and his Smash Melee inclusion (2001) was the franchise's first commitment to making a Fire Emblem character available to Western audiences. Fire Emblem itself was Japan-only until Marth's Smash inclusion drove enough Western interest that Nintendo localized Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals (2003 GBA), and the franchise expanded internationally afterward. The Marth-in-Smash inclusion is widely credited as the moment Fire Emblem became a Western franchise. The amiibo released November 21, 2014 alongside Smash 4's launch wave.
In Smash Ultimate his FP trains with the franchise's most spacing-tactical FE moveset: Falchion sword combat, Shield Breaker neutral-special, Dancing Blade combo-string side-special, Counter down-special. His sword's tip-deals-more-damage mechanic rewards specific positioning.
He pairs with Lucina, Roy, Ike, Robin, Corrin, Chrom, Byleth, and the rest of the Fire Emblem-line Smash cluster. The figure preserves the original Fire Emblem protagonist.
