About Snake amiibo

Solid Snake shouldn't exist three times in a row. He showed up in Brawl in 2008 as one of the franchise's first big third-party reveals. He got cut from Smash 4 probably because Konami had complicated relationships with Hideo Kojima around 2014. He came back in Smash Ultimate's 'Everyone is Here' trailer in 2018, which is the moment a real number of Metal Gear fans cried in front of their televisions. The amiibo released September 20, 2019, the proof that this moment was real.

In Smash Ultimate he mostly hides behind cover and detonates things. His moveset is built around hand grenades, C4, claymores, and the RPG-7, which is a deeply un-Mario-Brothers loadout the game lets him bring anyway.

The figure: Snake in his MGS2 character art with the codec earpiece visible, sneaking-suit configuration, leaning slightly, looking like he just heard something through the radio. No cardboard box on the base, sadly.

He pairs with Cloud, Sephiroth, and the rest of the third-party Smash cluster, but the Konami sub-cluster (Snake + Simon + Richter) is the more pointed display. The only Metal Gear figure in the entire amiibo line. The figure exists because Sakurai personally lobbied Kojima after the post-Konami split was already public. Get him before Otacon yells SNAAAAKE one more time.
