Link - Twilight Princess Amiibo

Twilight Princess (2006 Wii / GameCube) was the franchise's deliberate response to fan complaints about Wind Waker's cel-shaded art style. You had to be there to understand the visceral reaction to the reveal. After WW shipped with cartoon-Link in 2003, Nintendo essentially said 'fine, here is your gritty realistic Zelda,' and TP arrived with its dark color palette, brooding atmosphere, and the wolf-transformation mechanic that turned Link into Wolf Link periodically.

He pairs with Wolf Link, Link Ocarina of Time, Link Majora's Mask, Link Skyward Sword, and the broader Link cluster. The TP fanbase (separate from the OoT fanbase, separate from the BotW fanbase) is its own subset. Twilight Princess is the Zelda for fans who wanted a serious Zelda and got one.
